'Stay Off The Roof': County Executive to Residents
Forecasts call for Anne Arundel County to get up two feet of snow. The county executive urges residents to stay inside and off their roofs.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — As the snow intensified and driving became treacherous, Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh took to Facebook Friday night to urge residents to stay off the roads and let county workers do their jobs.
And he asked residents not to climb on their roof during the blizzard to dislodge snow.

“The storm is picking up intensity. We have just been informed that winds may reach 75 miles an hour by 3 a.m. this morning. Weather reports continue to call for up to 2 feet of snow in Anne Arundel County.
“The county was well prepared and is doing everything possible to address this emergency. We have 600 people working on the effort, 240 snow plows and numerous other pieces of equipment, and have fully activated the emergency management system.

“The best thing that residents can do at this point is stay off the roads and let our crews do their jobs.
“Also, please stay off the roof of your house. With every major snow event, we seem to have people who want to go onto their roofs and shovel off the snow. Please don’t do it. If you fall off the roof, we will have a difficult time getting to you on a timely basis.
“If you have an emergency, we have operators standing by on 911. Non-emergency issues should go to 410-222-0060.
“Please stay safe.”
