Storms To End Heat Wave: Anne Arundel County Weather
The National Weather Service has issued a warning for Anne Arundel County Sunday because of heat, but relief is ahead.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — It's Day 3 of a heat wave with temperatures that feel like they are in the triple digits across the region. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for most of Maryland, including Anne Arundel County.
There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday night, and then heavy rain Monday will finally break the heat. The high temperature on Tuesday will be in the low 80s.
First, the excessive heat warning took effect at 11 a.m. and expires at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, calling for dangerously high temperatures and humidity that could lead to heat stress or heat stroke.

The excessive heat warning says temperatures may reach 110 degrees on the heat index, which is what it will feel like outside due to humidity. Actual temps will range from the high 90s to 100.
It will be hottest in Anne Arundel County from 2 to 4 p.m., when the heat index is expected to hit 110degrees and it will be 97 degrees outside, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

During the excessive heat warning period Sunday, people should take precautions like wearing lightweight clothing, drinking water, rescheduling strenuous activities to the early morning or evening and taking frequent breaks in the shade or air-conditioning if working outside; and they should not leave children or pets alone in hot cars for any amount of time.

These Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities Senior Activity Centers will be open as cooling centers on Monday, July 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
