String of Burglaries Hits Homes, Business: Annapolis Police Calls

Thieves stole everything from guns to keys to cash in burglaries across the city, police say.

From the Annapolis Police Department:

In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 293 calls for service and arrested 24 people.

Theft from Vehicle – Unit block of Goodrich Rd – 05/12 at 8pm to 05/13 at 11:20am: Money was stolen from an apparently unlocked vehicle.

Burglary – 1200 block of Madison St. – 05/15 from 9am to 3:30pm: The apartment was entered by removing a window air conditioning unit. Nothing appeared to have been stolen from the home.

Burglary – Unit block of Southgate Ave. – 05/14 at 11pm to 05/15 at 6am: An unlocked rear door was entered and money was stolen from the home.

Burglary – 800 block of Boucher Ave. – 05/16 from 5:15pm to 5:25pm: While the residents were in the backyard an unlocked front door was entered and keys and SunCloud sunglasses were stolen from the home.

Burglary – Unit block of Maryland Ave. – 05/17 at 2:30am: An observant citizen heard glass breaking and saw Laura Schaefer, 36, of Salisbury and Todd Keys, 30, of Germantown reportedly entering a business. Officers arrived and found the glass in the front door to the business shattered and Schaefer and Keys inside. The business owner responded and confirmed that neither Schaefer nor Keys had permission to be inside the business. Schaefer and Keys appeared intoxicated. They were arrested and charged with 2nd and 4th degree burglary and trespassing. Both were released by the District Court Commissioner.

Burglary – 100 block of Northwest St. – 05/16 at 12:30pm to 05/17 at 1:25pm: A red and black Shindaiwa T242 gas powered grass trimmer and a red 5 gallon plastic gasoline container were stolen from an inadequately secured shed.

Burglary – 900 block of Windwhisper Lane – 05/14 at 8am to 05/17 at 8:10pm: The front door was forced open and two handguns, a shotgun, ammunition, a black HP laptop computer, and jewelry were stolen from the home.
