Tax Day 2018 Freebies And Deals: Margaritas, Cookie, Furniture

Many businesses across Maryland are hoping to ease the pain for consumers as they file their income taxes with specials from free food to discounts on furniture, clothing, vacations and makeup. From free hot dogs and Kona ice, to discounts on margaritas, Omaha Steaks and Firehouse Subs, here are the best spots to find a return on your investment for doing taxes. All deals are only available on Tuesday, April 17, unless noted.

If you're among the 13 percent of Americans who wait until the day before or on Tax Day to file, there are even a couple of last-minute deals to get that unpleasant paperwork done. H&R Block offers a free income tax calculator on any order and this link gets you up to $20 off TurboTax until April 17.

The folks at Offers.com have put together a list of businesses offering discounts and freebies. Offer terms and availability for these Tax Day deals may vary by location, so be sure to check with your local business before visiting.

Food and Drink Specials

• Applebee's: The Dollarita is back for April, just in time for tax day. As its name would suggest, the Dollarita costs $1 — and it’s available until the end of April.’s
• Baja Fresh: At participating locations, use these printable coupons to get $5 off an order of $20 and $2 off an order of $10.
• Bite Squad: Get 7.5% off your order on Tax Day (April 17) with promo code TAXDAY18 when ordering via Bite Squad’s site or app. See full details.
• Brixx Wood Fired Pizza: All April long, Brixx will feature a new coupon in its loyalty app. Download the Brixx Roxx app to get started.
• Bruegger’s: Tax Relief week is April 9 through April 17. During that time, get 20% off catering orders by entering TWENTYOFF at checkout. Plus, get the Big Bagel Bundle (which includes 13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese) for $10.40 by filling out a quick form.
• California Tortilla: The Fresh-Mex chain will offer free chips and queso on April 17. To get this deal, say “chipping in” when you place your order. This deal is good for one free small chips and queso per guest with purchase (in store only).
• Chili’s: – Take a Break from Taxes with the new $5 Cherry Blossom Margarita. No coupon required, simply ask your server for this special offer. Valid every day in April in the bar & dining room.
• Farmer Boys: The farm-fresh burger chain will be offering two deals this Tax Day (all day April 17): Two Breakfast burritos or Two Bell Ringer Double Cheeseburgers for $10.40. Usually, the burritos are priced $6.99 each and the cheeseburgers are $5.99 each. No coupon is required.
• Firehouse Subs: Use this printable coupon (valid at participating locations April 17 through April 19) to get a free medium sub with the purchase of a medium or large sub, chips and drink. Online, use promo code TAXDAY2018.
• Great American Cookies: Get free Cookies & Cream cookie when you stop by a participating store on April 17. No purchase necessary, but there’s a limit of one free cookie per customer. See full promo details.
• Hardee’s: On Tax Day April 17, you can get a free Sausage Biscuit between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. (local time) by saying the passphrase “Made from Scratch.”
• Hot Dog on a Stick: Participating locations nationwide will be giving out one free Original Turkey or Veggie Dog per customer on April 17.
• Kona Ice: The shaved-ice truck chain celebrates Tax Day (which it has dubbed National Chill Out Day) every year with a free shaved ice for each customer.
• Mazzio’s Italian Eatery: Tax Day intersects with Baseball Season for this deal. Get the Triple Play special, which includes any medium two-topping pizza, any signature Calzone Ring and 9-inch Cheese Dippers for $20.
• Mrs. Fields: Until midnight on April 16, use code SAVETEN to get 10% off any order.
• Noodles & Company: Get $4 off a $10 purchase (online only) April 11 through 18. You must be signed into your online loyalty account to redeem deal. Use coupon code TAXDAY18.
• Omaha Steaks: Place an online order for more than $59 and get a free 2-lb. ham. The promo runs through April 17, or until supplies run out.
• Tony Roma’s: At participating locations, get some tax relief in the form of a free order of Kickin’ Shrimp (one per table per visit). The promo runs April 14 through 17.

Retail Deals

• Ashley Furniture: Use code REFUND10 to get 10% off any order from April 15 through 17.
• Crate & Barrel: Until April 17, get up to 30% off rugs and 20% off curtains.
• Franklin Planner: Stay more organized for next year’s tax season with a new daily planner. You’ll get 17% off any order on April 17 with code TAX17.
• Groupon Getaways: If tax season has you craving a vacation, or you have some travel goals to accomplish with your refund, Groupon Getaways is offering up to 70% off guided tours to China through April 17.
• Lancome: A little splurging is in order after Tax Season. Get a free seven-piece gift set when you spend $60 or more and a 10-piece gift set when you spend $95 or more until April 19. If you spend the required amount, checkout, you’ll see a notification that you qualify for your for the free gift. Click through on this notification to select your items.
• L’Occitane: Need some pampering after tax season? Place an order over $65 and get a free eight-piece body and skincare gift for free. Use promo code ALMOND18.
• Lowe’s: Lowe’s is extending its Spring Black Friday sale through April 18. When shopping the sale, note that some product deals may expire earlier.
• Macy’s: Macy’s is offering a slew of fitness-tracker discounts through April 17. These include 25% off the Samsung Gear Fit1 Pro, and $50 off Samsung Gear S3 watches.
• Nest Bedding: Use coupon code MATTRESSNERD100 to get $100 off orders of $1,000 or more. This promo runs through April 17.
• Oriental Trading: The discount store is running a Spring Sale, which overlaps Tax Day. Party decorations, crafts and toys are up to 65% off through April 20.
• Samsonite: Through midnight PST, get up to 50% off most items with code SAVE. Also get free standard shipping on orders over $99.
• Shoe Carnival: Get 20% off when you buy two or more pairs of shoes, through April 17. Use promo code APRIL20.
• Shoe’s.com: Through April 17, get up to 50% off select athletic shoes.
