BROOKLYN PARK, MD — An Anne Arundel County man is being treated for smoke inhalation after his townhome caught fire March 1, officials said. A fire was reported in the basement of a townhome at 254 Edgevale Road West in Brooklyn Park about 5:30 p.m. Friday, said the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
A 63-year-old man escaped the home before firefighters arrived. Paramedics took him to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for possible treatment at the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine. Authorities said his injuries were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.
There were no smoke alarms in the townhome, which sustained an estimated $20,000 in damage.
