Pedestrian Killed in Crash on Duke of Gloucester Street: Police

UPDATED (7:25 p.m. on Tuesday)—Authorities were investigating a crash Tuesday in Annapolis that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old woman who had been walking on the sidewalk, according to the Annapolis Police Department.
At 3:18 p.m. on Tuesday, a man was driving on Duke of Gloucester Street when he hit a parked car on the south side of Duke of Gloucester Street near Conduit Street, police said.
Then, he drove across Duke of Gloucester Street to the road’s northern side, where his vehicle jumped a curb, went onto the sidewalk and hit a pedestrian, according to Annapolis police.

The 23-year-old pedestrian was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where police said she died from her injuries.
The driver, an 81-year-old man, remained at the scene and has been assisting in the investigation, police reported.

Annapolis police said that the department was not releasing information about the driver, pedestrian or vehicle involved Tuesday night, citing the ongoing investigation.

Previous report (4:18 p.m. on Tuesday)—Authorities were investigating a crash Tuesday in Annapolis that involved at least one pedestrian and would impact rush hour traffic, according to the Annapolis Police Department.
Due to investigation into the crash, Duke of Gloucester Street was closed as of 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, and the road would remain closed through the evening rush hour, police said.
A vehicle hit a pedestrian in the area at approximately 3:20 p.m., and the victim was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with injuries that were believed to be life-threatening as a result, The Capital reported.
The Duke of Gloucester Street was closed from Conduit to Green streets, according to the city of Annapolis, which advised drivers to take alternate routes.
