Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Closure of St. Margaret's Road
Crews will close a section of Saint Margarets Road (MD 179) on Friday just east of Meadow Valley Drive to replace a pipe.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — State highway crews will close a section of Saint Margarets Road (MD 179) on Friday through the weekend to replace an underground pipe.
Crews for the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration will begin work at 9 p.m. on April 8 and work will be completed by 5 a.m. on Monday, April 11, according to a news release.
The road closure is located east of the entrance into the Great Meadows community at Meadow Valley Drive, which is north of MD 648.

This section of MD 179 will not be accessible as a through road for traffic this entire weekend. Area residents on MD 179 will have access to their homes during the work. A signed detour will be in place and includes:
Drivers north or east of the closure near Old Bottom Road — Use Saint Margarets Road to reach westbound US 50. Follow US 50 to Exit 27A (MD 450) toward the US Naval Academy. Turn left onto MD 648 and stay on MD 648 as it turns left at the Greenbury Point Road intersection. Make a right to return to Saint Margarets Road.

Drivers south or west of the closure near MD 450 — From Saint Margarets Road, take southbound MD 648 and stay on MD 648 until you reach MD 450. Turn right onto MD 450 and follow to eastbound US 50 toward the Bay Bridge. From eastbound US 50, take Exit 29A (Buschs Frontage Road) and turn right onto Saint Margarets Road.
Crews will place portable digital message boards to alert travelers to the upcoming road closure. Temporary traffic signs will direct travelers to the posted detour route.
