Triple Shooting Prompts Arrest Of 16-Year-Old Boy In Annapolis: Police

A triple shooting in Annapolis led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy, police said. Officers accused him of shooting two boys and one man.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A triple shooting in Annapolis prompted the arrest of a 16-year-old boy this weekend, city police announced.

Officers accused the minor, who is from Annapolis, of shooting two 17-year-old boys and a 20-year-old man. Authorities said the victims all went to the hospital and are currently in stable condition.

Police said the suspect was charged as an adult, but they are not releasing his name because the case may get sent back to juvenile court.

"The Annapolis Police Department is committed to holding people responsible when they commit violent crimes," Police Chief Edward C. Jackson said in a Sunday press release. "We are also committed to getting illegal guns off the street. Today’s arrest is an example of the persistence and dedication of the officers and detectives as they work hard to address gun violence in our communities."

Authorities said they heard a report of shots fired Saturday around 12:37 p.m. in a parking lot in the unit block of Melrob Court.

Police said the three victims arrived at a nearby hospital while officers were checking the area.

Detectives said they identified the suspect and secured a warrant.

Authorities said they arrested the suspect on Sunday, charging him with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and related charges.

Detectives are still investigating.
