TWO MEN give back to area Women

Mother’s everywhere will be gathering gifts from loved ones come Sunday as we dedicate an entire day to those who dedicate their lives to their children; but some mothers and women in general aren’t that fortunate.

The sad truth remains that there are too many mothers and women in the area and the nation that are homeless, beaten or abused. Franchise moving company TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is trying to do their part to give back to the disadvantaged women and mothers. Their Movers for Moms campaign has locations throughout the greater Potomac Region collecting everyday items like soaps, hair products, pillows, slippers and other clothing items to be donated this weekend for Mother’s Day.

Area shelters include Bethany House of Northern Virginia in Alexandria, Family Justice Center of Montgomery County in Bethesda, Millstone at Kingsview in Germantown, and Montgomery Ave Women’s Center in Rockville.

“We are new to Movers for Moms,” said Bob Dorsey, Executive Director of Montgomery Avenue Women’s Center. “We hope for an ongoing relationship with Movers for Moms.”

“Last Spring, Movers for Moms collected more than 210,000 items for women in more than 100 shelters across the nation,” said Kelci Parrott, General Manager of Gaithersburg TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. “This year, our goal is 300,000 items.”
