UPDATE: Two High School Students Seriously Injured in SUV Crash
Rescuers had to extricate the 17-year-olds from the vehicle; one teen's injuries are described as life-threatening, police say.

Two teenagers suffered serious injuries in a crash Tuesday morning that closed Edwin Raynor Boulvard at Countryside Drive in Pasadena, according to police.
Anne Arundel County fire officials told WBAL TV that a 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were in a sport utility vehicle driving on Edwin Rayner Boulevard when it crashed into a tree.

Firefighters had to extricate both teens from the SUV, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said on its Twitter feed.
The unidentified pair, both from Pasadena, was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore. The boy’s injuries were described as serious, police said in a news release, while the girl’s injuries were considered life-threatening.

Police say the crash happend about 7 a.m. when the Ford Explorer driven by the boy ran into a tree. The teens were on their way to Northeast High School.
Authorities have not said if weather conditions played a role.
However, the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to about 142 accidents, most of them minor fender benders, between 3 and 10 a.m. Tuesday. A police spokesman said most of the crashes involved vehicles sliding off the road with property damage only and drivers exchanging information.
