Unidentified Man Drowns in Weems Creek: Fire Dept.
Local, state and federal personnel join Thursday night search for victim, says Annapolis Fire Department.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Fire and rescue personnel on Thursday evening recovered the body of a man who drowned in Weems Creek, according to the Annapolis Fire Department.
The fire department described the victim as a man in his 30s who was not wearing a life preserver. His body was turned over to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, which will determine the victim's identity and cause of death.

The fire department responded at 6:03 p.m. Thursday to the report of a possible drowning in Weems Creek, off the 300 block of Tucker Street, according to a fire department statement.
Witnesses told firefighters that someone had fallen out of a small boat and yelled for help. "The witnesses apparently went to help the victim, but he disappeared from their view, and could not be located," the fire department said in the statement.

Neighboring jurisdictions joined the search, including personnel from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, the U.S. Naval Academy Fire Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Maryland Department of Natural Resourses. A helicopter from the Maryland State Police also joined in, according to the Annapolis Fire Department.
The victim's body was recovered at about 8:50 p.m. after it was found submerged in a depth of about 10 feet of water, and about 150 to 200 feet from the shore, the fire department said.
