Upgrades to Naval Academy Bridge Lighting Coming Monday

Work crews will close parts of the sidewalks and bike lanes on the Naval Academy Bridge at night as improvements are made to lighting.

Expect to have sidewalks and bikes lanes closed at night as work crews upgrade lighting along the Naval Academy Bridge in Annapolis.

Beginning Monday night, Aug. 11, the Maryland State Highway Administration will upgrade the 80 light poles and fixtures on the MD 450 (King George Street) bridge over the Severn River. Work includes replacing poles and wiring and installing new decorative, energy-efficient LED lighting, according to a news release.

The Naval Academy Bridge features sidewalks and bike lanes in both directions. Crews will work on one side of the bridge at a time, closing one sidewalk and bicycle lane. Signs will be in place to help guide pedestrians and cyclists through the work zone.
