Video: West Annapolis Elementary Kindergartners Thank Veterans with a Song

Kindergartners at thanked veterans Friday by singing a heartfelt song they wrote themselves, with the help of music teacher Clair Stein.

"We are grateful that you're keeping us safe. We are grateful that you're being so brave. We are grateful that you're serving our country," the students sang.

They sang those lyrics during a , which included parents, held Friday morning.

“We are here to recognize all the men and women who have sacrificed for our country today and honor them,” Principal Christine Stockett told the students.

Parents who serve or have served in the military went around and introduced themselves, and then had the chance to take pictures with their children afterward. In addition to the ceremony, students also learned about the holiday by sharing photos of family members who are veterans. Those photos currently are on display inside the school.

Stockett said one of her jobs as an educator is to help children be good citizens and appreciate what others have done for our country.
