Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being.  We will empower participants to protect themselves with these 3 levels of self-defense:
1) Avoidance - Learn basic skills for avoiding trouble and protecting yourself. We will start with a discussion on safety to help you avoid trouble. 
2) Escape - Learn escape techniques if you find yourself in a situation you are unable to avoid. 
3) Fighting Back - Self-defense techniques will be covered for fighting back when you aren't able to escape easily. Not a good date? We are happy to put together a workshop for your group.
