Weather Alert for Anne Arundel County

The National Weather Service has issued two weather alerts for the region on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Moderate flooding along coastlines is possible in the Annapolis area through the evening, says the National Weather Service.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Wednesday for the Annapolis area, says the National Weather Service. That will be followed by a coastal flood warning from 4 p.m. to midnight with high tide.

Tides will be about one foot above normal Wednesday morning, increasing to around 1.5 feet above normal this afternoon and evening.

The evening high tide is expected at 6:55 p.m.

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore, says the weather service.

Expected rainfall Wednesday will add to the odds of some flooding. The forecast calls for a 100 percent change of rain Wednesday during the day and overnight.

The weather service says: “Periods of rain before 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 68. Chance of precipitation is 100%.”

Heavy rain is possible through 2 a.m., the forecast says. Total rainfall could total 1.25 inches.
