What You Need to Know About Fall Festivities in Annapolis

Autumn is in full swing in Annapolis, which means bright vibrant colors -- lots of orange -- pumpkins, corn mazes and all things spooky and Halloween-themed.
Check out these fall-themed events happening in and around Annapolis:
- Greenstreet Gardens Fall Festival: Stop by Greenstreet Gardens for haunted hayrides, a corn maze, kid-friendly activities and even costume contests. The festival is open on Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 26. 391 West Bay Front Road, Lothian.
- Historic Hauntings Tours: Beginning at the Annapolis Museum, take a haunted house tour of Annapolis. walk through downtown and through the William Paca House -- after dark. The event runs on Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 1. Tours begin at the Annapolis Museum, 99 Main Street.
- Navy Football: The Annapolis tradition includes the pageantry of the march-on by the brigade of midshipman through the streets of Annapolis and onto the field of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, to the anticipation of the plebes’ ‘push-up’ count for every point the Mids place on the scoreboard. Remaining home games are Oct. 25 and Nov. 15 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, 550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD. For more information, click here.
- Tug of War: The world’s longest tug-of-war contest began in 1998 whereby residents of Eastport face off against Annapolitans in a tug-of-war that spans both sides of Spa Creek. It’s not just a game; it’s accompanied by a free festival that involves food, drink, music and general merriment-on both sides of Spa Creek. The event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 8, on either side of the Spa Creek Bridge. For more information visit www.themre.org.
- Annapolis by Candlelight: The self-guided tour through some of Annapolis’s historic homes offers a rare glimpse, inside and out, the most charming and elegant homes of Annapolis. This year includes Acton Hall, one of the finest Georgian homes built during the Colonial era. The tours run from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 7 and 8 in Downtown Annapolis. For more information, click here.
