What's Open And Closed In Annapolis On Memorial Day 2017

What offices are closed and services are limited in Annapolis because of Memorial Day?

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Memorial Day 2017 holiday means county offices are closed, along with all Anne Arundel County Public Schools and central offices and county libraries.

Annapolis refuse and recycling will be affected on Monday and Tuesday, May 29 and 30, by moving the normal collection day to the next day. If Monday is your normal collection day, service will occur on Tuesday.

Regular refuse and recycling will resume on Thursday, June 1. Please note, there will be no yard waste collection or bulk item collection on Wednesday, May 31st.

Mayo Beach is Open

Mayo Beach Park, 4150 Honeysuckle Drive in Edgewater, will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Memorial Day. This event is free and open to the general public. Bring your kids and your grandkids and a picnic and enjoy this county-owned public beach.

This park is only rarely open to the general public. Mayo Beach has wide sand beaches, a bath house, a playground, a softball field, parking for hundreds of cars and a pavilion that is usually rented out for weddings. Bring your canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard and launch from the beach. Bring your binoculars and find the birds that live in the huge tidal pond behind the park.

No alcohol and please leash your dog.
