Will Skies Clear for Perfect Weekend?: Weather in Maryland

Sunny skies on the weekend and showers once we return to work next week. Isn’t that the perfect forecast?

We'll start out the weekend with a chance for storms Friday afternoon and evening. If storms do appear, there’s no warning that they’ll be severe like the ones that produced a tornado in Howard County earlier this week, says the National Weather Service.

But the real story this weekend is sun, sun and more sun — time to head to the beach.

Daytime highs will be 83 degrees on Saturday and up to 84 degrees on Sunday and climbing even higher as you get closer to D.C. Lows overnight Saturday and into Sunday will drop to a cool 62 degrees.

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tonight: A chance of thunderstorms before 8pm. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. East wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Northeast wind around 8 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
