Wind Restrictions in Effect at Bay Bridge
Some vehicles may be prohibited from crossing the bridge due to wind, the Maryland Transportation Authority advises.

A limited wind restriction is in effect for the Bay Bridge on Sunday, April 3, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.
Winds of 40 to 49 mph trigger limited wind restrictions.
These vehicles are prohibited on the bridge during periods of limited wind restrictions: house trailers, empty box trailers or any other vehicle that law enforcement personnel say may not safely cross.

Drivers denied passage will be given assistance so they can safely turn around.

In addition to the Bay Bridge, authorities say that the Hatem, Key and Nice bridges are under a limited wind restriction.
The Tydings Bridge is under a wind warning, meaning winds 30 to 39 mph will require extra caution of those driving house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds.

PREVIOUS RESTRICTION (EXPIRED)
A full wind restriction is in effect for the Bay Bridge, the Maryland Transportation Authority advised after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2.
Winds greater than 50 mph trigger full wind restrictions.
Only pickup trucks, flatbed trailers, automobiles, commercial buses and heavy-laden tractor/trailers are permitted to cross the bridge during full wind restrictions.
Tractor-box trailer combinations will not be allowed to cross if the gross weight is less than 64,000 pounds.

In general, the Maryland Transportation Authority advised drivers to stay off the roads amid windy conditions, stating: "Avoid driving if possible. Damaging winds will impact driving conditions. Downed trees, power lines & other debris may be encountered."
