ANNAPOLIS, MD — A woman's body was found in the Severn River near Annapolis on Saturday, reports said. Capital Gazette journalist Dan Belson reported that the victim was a 43-year-old from Chevy Chase. The Anne Arundel County Police Department has not released the victim's name because the agency has not yet notified her family, Belson said.

A resident called 911 around 1:30 p.m. to report the body in the Severn River near Chesapeake Harbour Drive East, WMAR journalist Bryna Zumer said. That's located in Anne Arundel County, just outside the Annapolis city limits.

Zumer said detectives are investigating this case as a suspicious death, but they don't know if the victim died from natural causes or unusual circumstances. Authorities took the victim's body to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
