4 Violent Robberies, Gun Charges: AA Police Log
Anne Arundel police have dealt with several armed robberies over the past few days.
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County police released their daily report, describing incidents between July 20 and July 22.
July 20:
Pasadena: Police responded to the C Mart in the 8000 block of Ft. Smallwood Road around 6:15 a.m. on an armed robbery call. Two suspects came in, showed a handgun and demanded money, police say. Employees of the C Mart complied. Police canvassed the area but found nothing. Nobody was hurt. Both suspects were described as thin black men, each about six feet tall. One was wearing a red shirt, black jeans and had a black handgun. The other was wearing all dark clothing.

Laurel: Police responded to the 3400 block of Lindenwood Drive in Laurel around 6 p.m. on a call about an armed person. The victim, an adult male, told police that Franklin Nathaniel Smith, 43, of the 1600 block of Quarter Avenue, Capital Heights, pointed a gun at him during an argument. Police later found Smith trying to leave in a car. They took him into custody without incident and found a .22 caliber Ruger handgun in the car. Smith was arrested on assault and weapons charges.

Glen Burnie: Police responded to the area of Baltimore and Annapolis Boulevards near Marley Neck Boulevard on a call about a robbery. The victim, a man, was walking on Marley Neck when two suspects got out of a "steel blue" mid-size sedan and "demanded his property." The victim gave them his cellphone, wallet and car keys. The suspects then punched and kicked him, police say. He was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries. The two suspects were described as black males, both about 20 years old. The driver was a woman, police say.
Severn: Police responded to a robbery at Telegraph Liquors in the 7700 block of Telegraph Road around 9:30 p.m. Employees said two suspects entered the store, showed handguns and demanded money. The employees complied and the suspects ran away. Police canvassed the area but didn't find any suspects. There were no injuries. The robbers were both described as black men of average height and weight, wearing masks and dark clothes and wielding handguns.
July 22:
Millersville: A police officer was doing a routine business check of the WaWa in the 8300 block of Veterans Highway around 2:30 a.m. The officer saw Michael Lee Arnold, 34, of the 500 block of Richwood Avenue in Baltimore, with a handgun "attempting to rob the store," police said. The cop confronted Arnold and a second suspect ran off. The cop "quickly" took Arnold into custody, but other officers couldn't find the second suspect. Detectives determined Arnold and the other suspect were responsible for the July 20 C Mart robbery in Pasadena, described above.
