PASADENA, MD — Scott Kirby, a 33-year-old man from Pasadena, is facing murder and assault charges over the death of his girlfriend, police said.
The charges stem from an incident that dates back to April 4, when police were dispatched around 6 a.m. to 1204 Lorene Court in Pasadena for an unresponsive woman.
A release issued by the Anne Arundel County Police Department said officers were dispatched when Kirby reported that his girlfriend, 34-year-old Heather Elizabeth Beaver, had overdosed at their home.
Responding officers had reported that Beaver's body had noticeable injuries. She was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
An autopsy later ruled her manner of death as a homicide by multiple blunt force injuries. Toxicology tests revealed her death was not related to an overdose.
"Based on the totality of the evidence, investigators, working in conjunction with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office, concluded that Scott Kirby assaulted Ms. Beaver, inflicting the fatal injuries," the release states.
Kirby was arrested Wednesday and charged with the following offenses:
Court records show that Kirby is being held without bond. A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for May 13.
