Anne Arundel Co. Civilian Security Guard Fired

A part-time civilian security guard with the Anne Arundel Co. Sheriff's Office took home a radio without permission and responded to a call.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Describing an employee's actions as "unacceptable," Anne Arundel County Sheriff Jim Fredericks fired a part-time civilian security guard with the county sheriff's office recently for what he said was misuse of a department radio system.

“The actions of the employee were unauthorized and could have jeopardized the police investigation, and that is unacceptable,” he said in a release.

The former employee, Harry Neisser, interrupted a radio call for assistance at the Arnold Post Office. Neisser was off duty and had taken home a police radio without permission. When the call came in to check on a vehicle, Neisser hopped on the radio and said he was a sheriff's unit and was on the scene. He then radioed in that the vehicle was gone.
