Anne Arundel County Football Power Poll - Week 9

Our top 5 teams are the same, but the order has changed after week 8 action. There are two weeks left before state playoffs begin. Where does your school rank?

Welcome to a feature new to Pasadena Patch by Dave Topp covering Anne Arundel County football! We'll be featuring this piece on a regular basis to keep track of how county teams are doing.

.) Old Mill (8-0) The Patriots are on a mission for an undefeated campaign and so far they've given little reason to think a perfect regular season is out of the question. Running back Rob Chesson delivered another five touchdown performance as Old Mill ran past Southern, 42-12. A week 10 match up with South River looms for the Patriots, but they must first deal with Glen Burnie this week. Last Week: 1

.) Arundel (7-1) Arundel's high-flying offense didn't exactly light up the stat book against Severna Park, last week. Cooper Hibbs threw touchdown passes of 51 and 33 yards, to Tyler Young and Romeo Harris respectively in the win. Arundel travels to Chesapeake in week 9. LW: 2

.) Meade (5-3) The Mustangs have positioned themselves to possibly secure one of the top four spots in the MPSSAA Class 4A East region. Standing in their way is Severna Park, which is also Meade's week 9 opponent. With the game being played in Severna Park, the odds might be against the Mustangs. LW: 4

.) South River (5-3) Losing to Glen Burnie still stings, though South River rebounded with a 40-28 win over Northeast last week. Running back Lavon Chaney ran for three touchdowns and threw another in the victory. The Seahawks will likely need to win out to have a chance at one of the four playoff spots in the region. Their week 10 game at Old Mill will possible decide South River's playoff fate. LW: 5

.) Severna Park (5-3) With their loss to Arundel, the Falcons fall into a three-way tie for third place in the county. Which ever team finishes third will likely advance to the playoffs with Old Mill and Arundel. But to get into the playoffs, Severna Park must take care of Meade first. LW: 3

.) Chesapeake LW: 7

.) Southern LW: 6

.) Broadneck LW: 10

.) Northeast LW: 8

.) Glen Burnie LW: 9

.) North County LW: 11

.) Annapolis LW: 12
