Baby Care Kit Being Offered By County Health Department

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD – Just in time for Father’s Day, the Anne Arundel County Department of Health is encouraging fathers to play a role in the prenatal care and parenting of their children. County officials suggest fathers attend childbirth and parenting classes with the baby’s mother and attend health care appointments. They also emphasize that dads should not smoke around pregnant women or babies, and help their baby’s mother avoid smoking, alcohol and drugs.

The department emphasizes to never shake a baby, always place the baby to sleep on his or her back, and to support breastfeeding. The county department of health offers a free Healthy Baby Care Kit and online childcare classes to help that are available at www.aahealthybabies.org.
