Bull, Oyster Roast Raises Money for Youth Baseball

Pasadena 12U Travel Eagles Host Bull and Oyster Roast Saturday Night in Curtis Bay

It took the combined efforts of many people to make the Pasadena 12U Travel Eagles Baseball Team's Bull and Oyster Roast on Saturday night a success.

Held in the Stoney Creek Democratic Club in Curtis Bay, the hall was full of people who danced, won prizes, participated in a silent auction, listened to music and feasted on a wide assortment of food.

The catered menu included pit beef, pit ham, pit turkey, Maryland crab soup, oysters, mashed potatoes, green beans, beer, soda, cold salads and desserts. Tickets were $35 per person.

"Pasadena Baseball 12U-A Travel is looking forward to the upcoming spring season. We are set to compete in the premier Baltimore Metro Baseball League as well as in a number of tournaments," team spokesman Stan Frazier said.

The facility on Fort Smallwood Road was overflowing with supporters of the fundraiser. Frazier said money raised from the bull and oyster roast will be put to good use, by minimizing costs for parents of the players.

"We try to reduce our out-of-pocket expenses through sponsorships, donations and various fundraising events. Last year's bull and oyster roast was a nice success that we look to repeat this year," he said.

On the team's schedule is a tournament to be held in Cooperstown, N.Y. It is a national-level, high visibility, summer-long competition. The Pasadena team is slated to compete July 23-28 in the tournament, Frazier said.

The 12U-A team is led by head coach Solomon "Sol" Sterenberg and coaches Tim Benson and James Baptiste. The team mom is Robin Zellers and coordinator of the bull and oyster roast was Vicki Miskimon.
