You are invited to attend Maryland's Parren J. Mitchell (PJM) Dinner Salute on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Club Meade, 6600 Mapes Road, Fort Meade, Maryland. The 8th annual celebration is hosted by the West County Democratic Club (WCDC) of Anne Arundel County.
Parren J Mitchell was the African American elected to Congress below the Mason-Dixon Line since 1898. Congressman Mitchell served the 7th
Congressional District in Maryland becoming a founding member of the&nbsp;Congressional Black Caucus. He was the Father of the Federal Set-Aside Programs designed to assist minority businesses by granting a percentage of federally funded contracts to minority contractors.
The keynote speaker for the 8th
annual PJM Dinner Salute is the Honorable Kweisi Mfume, a member of the US House of Representatives serving Maryland’s 7th Congressional District. Tickets are also available at Humanitix.com

Bring your family and friends to the Purcellville Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 25 from noon to 7 p.m. rain or shine. This free, family-friendly event will be held at Fireman’s Field Park and inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink at 250 South Nursery Avenue.

Enjoy a full day of live music and performances across multiple stages, along with an art exhibit, games, chalk art, and a variety of interactive activities. Browse offerings from local vendors featuring handcrafted goods, food, beverages, and more. There will be fun for all ages, including face painting, glitter tattoos, sidewalk chalk art, and t-shirt or tote bag decorating. Local non-profits will also be on-site sharing information and resources. Special activities will highlight and celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. 
Inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink—transformed into the Art Hall—you’ll find more than 30 works of art, live performances, art demonstrations, and hands-on activities including quilt square decorating and an Instrument Petting Zoo. Be sure to pick up a festival scavenger hunt booklet and complete it for a chance to win a prize!

Tilghman on Saturday, April 25th at 1PM as she "Spills the Tea" on her book Love Letters &amp; Gingerbread, An Annapolis Christmas. Enjoy an Elevenses Tea with tea and sweets while she discusses her book. &nbsp;Sweets include desserts found in the book.
Mary will have books available for purchase and signing at the event. &nbsp;Books are $9.00 and may be paid for in advance to ensure there are enough for all who wish to purchase one.
