There were two red wheels attached to a metal adjustable frame. Upon this frame, sat two parallel half-circular black rubber tubes connected to each side. On the opposite end from the red wheels another half-circular black rubber tube stretched across with a buckle. Would it work? I stood staring, relieved to find K-9 Cart Company East in Oxford, MD who would custom fit the cart.
I looked at my Cavalier Spaniel struggling to stand on his hind legs. Once upright, he wobbled a few steps before his back legs collapsed. Anchoring the K-9 cart to the wall, I lifted him into position and clasped the buckle. He stood - a wonder in of itself. I walked across the room, bent down, and called to him. Harley came, wagging his tail.
Fall finds us traversing park trails and people stop to admire his fortitude. Harley travels at his own pace, reveling in the scents and chasing leaves. Today, however, he smelled the Bay and to my amazement ran across the leaves, sticks, ruts, ditches, and sand to put his feet in the cold blue water.
