Chatting with Northeast Lacrosse Junior Courtney Woolford

Patch stopped by the girls varsity lacrosse practice and spoke with midfield captain Courtney Woolford, 17, about her lacrosse career and her plans for the future. Her coach, Julia Lebowtz, said Woolford is definitely a Division I prospect.

Pasadena Patch: You’ve been on the varsity lacrosse team for three years. What is one of your favorite memories?
Courtney Woolford: One of the games in a tournament this year, we played a really physical and quick team. It was an intense game and tied 3-3 at halftime. We ended up winning and it was really exciting.

Pasadena Patch: What other groups or activities do you participate in at Northeast?
Woolford: I play field hockey. I am also in Fellowship of Christian athletes.

Pasadena Patch: What do you like best about ?
Woolford: I like how it is small and our team is very diverse, but we all get along so well. We click well and there aren’t a lot of conflicts.

Pasadena Patch: How is the season going so far?
Woolford: Our team is definitely building from years past. We have been getting compliments from other teams that we play saying we are a better team from past years. We definitely have potential.

Pasadena Patch: Do you think you’ll be playing lacrosse at the college level?
Woolford: Yes, I’d like to. I play on a club team called Maryland United. This will be my first year with them. It will start after high school lacrosse and I will be at tournaments all summer. So, hopefully, that will help with college lacrosse.
