Chesapeake Teacher Named Educator of the Month
Social studies teacher Robert Cavendar was recognized as educator of the month by the school board.

social studies teacher Robert Cavendar was recognized as educator of the month at Wednesday night’s Anne Arundel County Board of Education meeting.
Cavendar, who is also an advanced placement teacher, was described by school board member Deborah Ritchiet "as a teacher whose ability to connect to each and every student is a hallmark to his teaching style."
"He is passionate about history and is able to engage students through a unique method of sharing information and then actively listening to students’ viewpoints," Ritchiet said.

Cavendar was recognized for his consistent efforts to provide help for students when they need it. He often holds after school and Saturday morning sessions to offer extra assistance.
Chesapeake alumni even created a Facebook page entitled “Mr. Cavendar for President,” which the board believed was a testament to how well-liked Cavendar is at Chesapeake High School.

“Robert Cavendar has a magic touch with helping students recognize their potential and guiding them to achieving it,” said Ritchiet. “The combination of his sharp intellect, positive personality and unfailing belief in the ability of every student to succeed creates a tantalizing learning environment that students clamor to return to year after year.”
