Chesapeake High To Honor Former Principal

The school's newly refurbished auditorium will be rededicated to William Norman, who was principal from 1976 to 1983.

will honor the memory of former principal William Norman with an endowment fund in his name and the rededication of its newly refurbished auditorium. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the school.

Norman, who was in July, worked for the school system for nearly 30 years and served as the first principal of Chesapeake High from 1976 to 1983, according to a release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS). Patch previously reported that Norman was also the principal at Old Mill High School and before Chesapeake High opened.

The rededication will feature tributes to Norman in the form of performances from the band, chorus and dance ensemble. According to AACPS, the auditorium features new lighting, seating and floors.

In addition, alumni will officially launch the William H. Norman Endowment Fund that will award scholarships to Chesapeake High seniors.
