Councilman Fink Takes on New Challenges

Derek Fink and his wife are expecting their first child in March, The Baltimore Sun reports.

Anne Arundel County Councilman Derek Fink has had a lot going on lately.
The Baltimore Sun recently ran a profile on the council chairman that discussed the many challenges Fink faces now, and going forward.

The Sun reported that Fink and his wife, Kristin, are expecting their first child, a boy, in March.

While Fink prepares for the new responsibilities of raising a child, he has faced adversity at work, too.

He was Dec. 6, 2010 as vice-chair of the County Council. This past December he was voted chair. When he began his first term a little more than a year ago, he said his main priorities were getting the county's financial business in order and tackling the deficit.

Back in September, that provided the county with a chance to rezone properties based on community needs. The plans, which included adding new shopping centers, faced opposition from community members.

Fink, a Pasadena resident all his life, graduated from . While there, he played football for , whom he still . Fink later attended North Carolina State University.

Fink has also taken to the business side of Pasadena; he owns on Magothy Beach Road.
