Veteran Opens Barbecue Restaurant In Anne Arundel County, Chain Plans 3 More Sites In MD

PASADENA, MD — A new restaurant named Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened recently in Pasadena's Lakeshore Plaza. The chain plans to open additional locations soon in Baltimore, Hyattsville and North Beach.

The Pasadena site, located at 4145 Mountain Road, held its soft opening on Jan. 11. The grand opening followed a day later.

Business is already booming at the new eatery.

"We have literally sold out, something we want to fix, every night since our grand opening," Dickey's said Tuesday on Facebook. "Such a fantastic and supportive community, we love you Pasadena!"

The kitchen ran until 3 a.m. Tuesday to prepare 10 full briskets and keep up with the next day's demand.

Travis Dickey, a World War I veteran, opened the first Dickey's in 1941 in Dallas.

The operation now has hundreds of locations spread across 42 states.

The Pasadena restaurant, which is also veteran-owned, is one of two Dickey's currently open in Maryland. The other is in Colmar Manor.

The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation gave the Pasadena eatery a congratulatory citation at its grand opening.

"Had a great time helping celebrate the much-anticipated opening of Dickey's Barbecue Pit," the Economic Development Corporation said last week on Facebook. "The highlights? Presenting a citation to Steve, the restaurant’s owner, then getting to sample some of the delicious 'Legit. Texas. Barbecue.' that it's now serving up. Congrats, Steve, and thanks for opening your business in Anne Arundel County!"

Dickey's is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
