GIRLS LACROSSE: CHS Set to Take on Meade
The Cougars will play Meade Wednesday night at Chesapeake High School.

The girls lacrosse team (6-7) will take on Meade High School Wednesday night during the first round of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA).
The Cougars are coming off a and are hoping to carry that motivation with them into the playoffs.
“We are excited to continue the season,” said Chesapeake coach Shannon Kelly in an email to Patch. “We will never under estimate any team. Meade has hustle and we will bring our best game to the matchup.”

In the tournament Meade received a 10 seed, while the Cougars earned a seven seed, giving Chesapeake home-field advantage for the first round.
In the Northeast matchup, the Cougars sometimes struggled on defense. They allowed the Eagles long sprints down the field, which led to quick Northeast goals. Kelly said during practice this week, the team has been focusing on working with a lot of intensity.

“We have practiced hard first of all. We have worked on our plays and slides,” Kelly said. “[The girls] are excited to play Meade and hopefully we can stay focused and make it a far as we can.”
The girls earned a bye in the first round. They will travel to No. 1 seed Queen Anne’s High School on Friday.
