“Abby Mack is not only a phenomenal player, she is a phenomenal person,” said Chesapeake coach Shannon Kelly. “She always looks out for others. She had six assists tonight and that’s not even her best assist total this season. We’re lucky to have her on our team.”

Mack’s speed and quick stick skills were too much for to handle as she moved about the field with ease.

“It was just really fun to get out there and kind of relax and just play the game of lacrosse," Mack said. “I wasn’t really worried about winning or losing, I was just having fun playing my last game here.”

Despite Northeast's quick start, they were unable to keep up with the Cougars fast-paced offense. Led by Kayla Miller, the Cougars dominated the draw controls, which ultimately led to their offensive success.

“We lost some of the draw controls and that’s what hurt us,” said Northeast coach Julia Lebowitz. “It is hard to score goals when you start back on defense. They had some really good quick goals. We got caught flat-footed on the defensive end and they burned us on that."

Miller won 10 draws, which led to prime offensive opportunities for the Cougars.

“Draw controls were big,” said Kelly. “Kayla Miller stepped up and started winning draw controls and she gives 100 percent all the time.”

Chesapeake really put the game away at the start of the second half when they scored seven goals in the first ten minutes of the half. During the stretch, Mack had two of the seven goals and three assists.

“[Mack] is one of those players who is quick,” Lebowitz said. “She had quick feet and a quick stick.”

Northeast railed in the fourth quarter when they scored six goals in the game's final 13 minutes. but the comeback was short-lived.

“I think the fact that it’s their senior night, the fact that they were playing against Northeast, they knew they had to come out big and come out strong,” Kelly said. “One of our goals was to be intense the entire time and we did that.”
