Heightened Security at Chesapeake High School

The school received rumors that unsafe behavior could occur.

Heightened security measures were in place at this morning after rumors spread via social media that some unsafe behavior could happen, according to Anne Arundel County Schools spokesman Bob Mosier.

“There were a bunch of rumors on social media sites about some things that could happen at the school,” said Mosier. “No specifics were mentioned; they were simply rumors. We have been working with police for the last few days just to do what we can do to help make sure students and staff are safe.”

Several readers e-mailed Patch this morning regarding concerns of police activity at the school. Mosier said the extra security was just a precaution.

“We wanted to have more police at the school,” Mosier said. “There was certainly a heightened police presence at the school this morning. So far, today has gone completely normally. There have been no incidents and no specific threat.”
