Man Assaults Medic While En Route To Hospital: Police

An Anne Arundel County EMT was assaulted by a patient being transported for the hospital.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — An Anne Arundel County medic had to seek medical care after she was assaulted by a patient being transported to the hospital Thursday night. According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, a man threw the medic against the wall of the ambulance while en route to the hospital.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:02 p.m. Oct. 17 at the intersection of Ritchie Highway and Church Street for a disorderly person call. Raymond Lowell Sterns, 50, has been arrested and charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and second-degree assault of an EMT official. According to the Baltimore Sun, the medic told police she didn't believe any bones were broken but she would see a physician and get checked out. Apparently the man was being transported due to a high level of intoxication, the medic told police.
