Man Wielding Machete Accused Of Assaulting Anne Arundel Homeowner

PASADENA, MD — Anne Arundel County authorities have arrested a Wheaton man after they said he threatened a Pasadena homeowner with a machete before assaulting him and stealing his personal property.

Nelson Alexander Martinez, 51, was taken into custody in Montgomery County on Thursday in connection with the Feb. 9 incident, Anne Arundel County police said in a news release.

According to police, the victim was outside his home in the 300 block of Caldwell Road around 3:50 p.m. when Martinez approached him and asked to see inside the victim's home.

Police said the victim led Martinez to the basement, where Martinez brandished a machete and demanded money. Authorities said Martinez stole the victim's phone and bank card before punching him and fleeing.

Paramedics took the victim to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the incident was not random and appeared to be a targeted act of violence.
