Naked Attacker's Pasadena Slashing Linked To Opiate Use: Police
Philip L. Koletty had huddled naked at the top of a Pasadena family's stairs, heavily under the influence of opiates, slashed two residents.

ANNAPOLIS —A 30-year-old Pasadena man has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for breaking into a home in the community and badly slashing a man and his girlfriend with a butcher knife as the man's teenage daughter watched, Anne Arundel’s state’s attorney announced Wednesday.
Anne Arundel Circuit Judge J. Michael Wachs sentenced Philip L. Koletty July 10 on his conviction on three counts of second-degree assault and one count of possession with intent to distribute narcotics, Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said.
Police said Koletty, extremely high on Oxycodone laced with Fentanyl, had broken into the home around 2 a.m., crouched naked on the stairs of the family's home, then attacking the man and his girlfriend with a butcher's knife he had taken from the home's kitchen.

"The family that was victimized in this terrifying incident had no connection to Mr. Koletty who broke into their home and violently attacked them," Leitess said in a statement. "I hope his sentence provides a sense of peace to the family as they continue to recover and move forward from such a senseless and horrific crime. Mr. Koletty's abuse of dangerous drugs was clearly a contributing factor to his violent attack."
Police responded to a report of a burglary in the 8600 block of Gambier Harbour, and found a gruesome scene right out of horror movie, blood everywhere, the man who owned the home suffering wounds to the neck and stomach; his girlfriend, a severe hand wound.

When he woke to his dog barking, then spotted Koletty naked on the bottom step of a stairway clutching the butcher knife, the homeowner grabbed a pocket knife, and seriously wounded Koletty, who was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after his arrest.
The man's daughter, who dialed 911, was not injured.
Police, who launched a manhunt with K9s and police choppers, reported finding his blood at the rear doors to several other Pasadena homes, suggesting he attempted to break into them as well.
An alarmed neighbor dialed 911 after spotting Koletty naked in the woods behind a home on Jackpine Drive, where police arrested him.
