Pasadena House Fire Hospitalizes Resident, Firefighter

A Pasadena house fire sent a resident and responding firefighter to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

PASADENA, MD — A Pasadena house fire hospitalized a resident and firefighter Thursday afternoon, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said in a press release. The fire started around 4 p.m. in a bedroom.

All of the residents escaped the house in the 700 block of 204th Street, but one occupant may have inhaled smoke and needed treatment. Medics took the man, 30, to the burn ward of the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

A firefighter also went to the hospital for treatment of a minor cut. The firefighter has since returned to work.

Residents called 911 when they spotted smoke in a second-floor bedroom. The 23 reporting firefighters controlled the flames within 25 minutes. Fire officials do not have an estimate for how much it will cost to repair the two-story, split-level home.

The department ruled the fire accidental. It is not immediately clear whether the home's smoke detectors worked properly.
