Riva Man Charged with Impersonating Police Officer
Authorities say Tyrone Clancy claimed to be a U.S. marshal, and the agency would pay for work to his car.
A Riva man is charged with impersonating a police officer after he reportedly told a business he was a federal marshal and the agency would pay for repairs to his vehicle.
Tyrone Lyons Clancy, 37, of 332 Derbyshire Lane in Riva was arrested Wednesday after Anne Arundel County Police searched his home. They reportedly found numerous pieces of police paraphernalia and Air-soft weapons.
The case began Tuesday evening when employees at a business in the 2000 block of West Street in Annapolis reported a police impersonator. Authorities say Clancy had gone to the business Aug. 9 claiming to be a federal marshal who needed work done on his government vehicle. When asked for his government account number, Clancy could not provide it. He told employees that the U.S. Marshal’s office would reimburse the business for the work performed.

When Clancy returned on Tuesday to pick up the vehicle he accused employees of stealing equipment from his vehicle. An employee saw a gun and badge on the suspect’s hip and a tactical vest in the vehicle.
After Clancy left the business, employees called police, who obtained a warrant to search Clancy’s home.
