Social Media Threat Not Aimed At Anne Arundel Schools: Police
A social media threat was mistakenly thought to be aimed at Chesapeake High School; all county schools will be open April 9, police say.

PASADENA, MD — A social media threat was mistakenly thought to be aimed at Chesapeake High School in Pasadena, say authorities, who said Sunday night there is no danger to local students. All Anne Arundel County Public Schools will be open as normal on Monday, April 9.
The school system said, "This afternoon, Anne Arundel County Public Schools was made aware of a social media post that made a threat against a school identified only as “CHS.” The person who alerted AACPS was worried that the post referenced Chesapeake High School.
"Upon learning of the post we immediately contacted police, and we have since learned that the post was related to an incident at a school in New Mexico last week. The post is not related to Chesapeake High School and there is no threat whatsoever to students or staff at Chesapeake High School or any of our schools.
All schools will operate on normal schedules on Monday, April 9."

Wednesday was the 50th anniversary of the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The school's principal said an administrator and two police officers assigned to the school found the Confederate flag in the truck's bed, and the noose and a pair of dice decorated with Confederate flags hanging from the truck's rear-view mirror.
The appearance of the Confederate flag is the latest in a series of racial incidents at Chesapeake High School. In February a threat was made against the school targeting African-American students.
