As a non profit organization assisting families in crisis and also connecting with other organizations with the same agenda, we have noticed that we are expanded our services. We have tried to refer families to other agencies and vice versa but the families always get so discouraged from teh shuffling that we have decided to help them all the way.
Our main goal to help them anyway and give them esteem and direction to continue on their journey towards self reliance but it seems that a lot of agencies in AAC is way over worked and over booked to really focus on the needs of each family.
We strive to help even though we work with a limited amount of people mostly consisting of a handful of dedicated volunteers.
We are trying to put the word out about getting more help from dedicated volunteers as well as funding. Anything would help us when families come in and the children are hungry or the parents do not have interview clothes (yes, we refer them to other agencies but they only give them basic supplies over a period of time). We generally come out of pocket for expenses for these families.
If you feel you can help, please visit our website www.familiesontheedge.org.
Give us a call and let us know how you can help.
