Sweet Sky Seeks Forever Home After Almost 600 Days At Shelter

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — With alert, pointy ears and a twinkle in her eye, Sky is the sweetest pup that takes a bit to warm up to people, which is possibly why she's languished at the SPCA of Anne Arundel County for almost 600 long days. That's far too long for this darling dog to wait for someone to take her home and love her like she deserves.

When she was a puppy, Sky lived in several homes and learned at a young age to fend for herself. She delights in the simplest things, such as a piece of string cheese or a car ride. All she wants is to bond with humans and have a family of her own.

Karen Meek, kennel coordinator at the shelter, said she is still a bit socially awkward around other dogs, but would only need a proper introduction.

"She is interested in meeting and playing with other dogs," Meek told Patch. "I do not know if she has any history with cats thought."

Sky is incredibly intelligent and a quick learner. But she's slow to trust, so a patient dog lover would be perfect for her. She also would be best in a home without kids, Meek said.

"When you're in her club, she can be very sweet and silly. When she trusts you enough to relax and open up, it makes you feel so special," Meek told Patch.
