Teen Swimmer Dies After Being Pulled From Anne Arundel County Waterway: Reports
A teen swimmer died after he was pulled from an Anne Arundel County waterway, reports said. He was 16 years old.

PASADENA, MD — The teenager who rescue divers pulled from a Pasadena waterway this weekend has died, reports said.
Firefighters said they were called to the 8400 block of Bay Drive Saturday at 3:24 p.m.
Crews said a 16-year-old boy had jumped from a pier into Stoney Creek and didn't resurface.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said its dive team recovered the patient about 90 minutes after he was last seen above the water. North Point-Edgemere Volunteer Fire Department's Marine Unit 269 provided mutual aid, scanning the area with sonar.
Anne Arundel County crews said they started life-saving measures and took him to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie in critical condition.

Firefighters said any updates on the boy's condition would have to come from the hospital. UM BWMC, however, declined to comment, citing juvenile health privacy laws.
Chesapeake Bay Magazine and the Capital Gazette reported that the teen died from his injuries. Neither identified the victim.
"This is a heartbreaking incident to remind everyone in Anne Arundel County that waterways, although fun and relaxing, can be very dangerous," Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Jenny Macallair told Patch in an email. "Please wear a life jacket if you are uncomfortable in open water, know the areas you are swimming in, and remember that tides can change the depths quickly."
