Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Anne Arundel County Republicans are hosting a picnic in Pasadena on Aug. 18. The North County Republican Club, Elephant Club and the District 32 Republican Club are all joining forces to host the event. The picnic will be held at the waterfront home of Dave Blanch in Pasadena. Families are invited to bring a dessert or side dish to the event and the clubs will provide burgers, hot dogs, beer and soda. According to the groups' <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/320314231394139/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Facebook event</a>, current candidates are invited to share brief campaign updates, and local elected officials will be in attendance. Those who plan on attending are asked to RSVP by Aug. 13.
