What's Open, Closed Easter Weekend 2019 In Anne Arundel

Some Anne Arundel County and city of Annapolis offices and services will be closed for Good Friday, Passover and Easter Sunday.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — This year, Good Friday and Passover fall on the same day, April 19, while Easter is on April 21. The holiday is also spring break for Anne Arundel County Public Schools, which are off until Tuesday, April 23.

Anne Arundel County: All county government offices will be closed on April 19. All county senior centers will be closed.

County Libraries: All libraries will be closed Easter Sunday, April 21.

Country Trash, Recycling:

Normal curbside collections of recycling, yard waste and trash will occur Friday, but all Waste Management facilities are closed. All facilities will reopen on Saturday, April 20. Curbside collection of recycling, yard waste, and trash will not be affected by the holiday.

Banks: According to Newsweek, major banks across the country — Bank of America, Chase Bank and Wells Fargo — will be open normal hours on Friday. It's best to check your local bank ahead of time to ensure it's open.

US Post Office/FedEx/UPS: Good Friday is not observed as a holiday, so most post offices will be open and mail will be delivered as normal.

FedEx will be operate on a modified service on FedEx Express and Freight, but normal service on all others. UPS doesn't observe Good Friday and will operate as normal.

The City of Annapolis will have the following schedule changes for the weekend:

  • City offices will be closed on Friday, April 19, 2019.
  • Transportation bus service will run on a Sunday Schedule (Purple bus 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; State Shuttle 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.) on Friday, April 19, 2019.
  • The “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center will be closed on Sunday, April 21, 2019.
  • The City Council will hold its second meeting of the month, the “Special City Council Meeting” on April 29, 2019 at 7 p.m. (Please note that City offices will be open and City services will run on a regular schedule on Monday, April 22. However, the evening meeting of the City Council has been pushed forward one week.)

Trash and recycling pickup will follow a regular schedule on both Friday and Monday in Annapolis.
