Lansdowne House Fire Kills One: Officials

One person died after being rescued from a house fire in Lansdowne Thursday morning, Baltimore County officials report.

LANSDOWNE, MD — One woman died after a house fire in Lansdowne Thursday, according to authorities. Her husband was in critical condition, Baltimore County public safety officials reported.

Susan Jeanne Fox Shipley, 67, lived at the home where fire broke out Thursday morning in the 3200 block of Ryerson Circle, according to officials.

Crews were dispatched to the home at 7:49 a.m. and saw smoke coming from a bedroom window. Unsure if anyone was home, officials said they forced their way inside, where rescuers found Shipley and her 71-year-old husband unconscious and in critical condition.

Her husband was taken to St. Agnes Hospital and then the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Authorities reported on Thursday afternoon that Jeanne Fox Shipley died following the fire.

The cause is under investigation. Fire officials told WBAL there was nothing suspicious.

In all, 17 fire and EMS crews responded to the incident.
