Dear Lansdowne neighbors,
I would like to inform you that a Code Enforcement Community Sweep will take place on June 20th. The Lansdowne Improvement Association has received MANY complaints about the conditions existing at some properties in our community.
We have given information on how to report a complaint and have even done this for residents who are hesitant to report it themselves. We began announcing this sweep at our meetings a few months ago and also on flyers advertising our clean up/dumpster day at Hillcrest Park on June 2nd.

Unfortunately we are now getting complaints that we did not do enough to get the word out. We did the best we could.. flyers were distributed, and notices were put on Patch, the Arbutus Times on our website and on our Facebook page. We have been criticized for not delivering a flyer to every home. Perhaps if we had any volunteers to help us this would have been done, but we only have a handful of people who are willing to help and most of them are Seniors and walking long distances is difficult for them.
Just for clarification... a team of Inspectors will be walking through the neighborhood on June 20th to inspect properties. The most common violations are high weeds and grass, trashcans without lids (this draws rats), untagged or junk vehicles and junkyard conditions. We do not make the law and we are just doing what we have been asked to do by residents. Most of you should have nothing to worry about!

A correction notice will be given first followed by a reinspection in about 2 weeks. If the violation is not corrected then a notice of a fine is given. The resident is also entitled to a Code Enforcement hearing if they wish, so the comments that we will be harming elderly residents is not the case.
Please help us by telling your neighbors about this sweep on ...JUNE 20TH !!!
Thank you
