"Prince of Darkness" Says Ehrlich Knew About The Election Day Robocalls

Former Ehrlich aide calls robocalls "racist piece of claptrap."

Joe Steffen, an aide to former Gov. Bob Erhlich, says on his blog that Erhlich new about the robocalls that went out on election day last fall urging predominately African-American voters to stay home and not cast their ballots even though polls were still open.

Two Erhlich campaign aides, Paul Schurick and Julius Henson, have been charged with violating campaign laws by ordering the robocalls.

Steffen, also known as the "Prince of Darkness," says in a blog posting entitled, "Of Course Bob Ehrlich Knew" that "...I think Mr. Ehrlich knew about the RoboCalls."

Steffen gives several reasons why he believes Ehrlich knew about the robocalls, including that "Ehrlich holds Governor O’Malley in personal contempt" and the robocalls may have helped tighten the election results, thus saving Ehrlich's ego.

Steffen says that the Ehrlich campaign first discussed doing the robocalls in the summer of 2010. He says that if Ehrlich was not present at the meeting, he would have been informed about it by his close associate, Greg Massoni.

Steffen says that had Ehrlich said "no" to the robocalls, then "that racist piece of claptrap never would have gone out, Schurick and Henson wouldn't be looking at jail time, and Ehrlich's legacy wouldn't be in the toilet."
